Potty Training, Day 6

Goal- 2 successes....

Woke up dry!!! Whoa. And she had a crap ton of water before bed.

She asked for her panties right away. Told her we had to go potty first. Sat on the potty about 3/4 minutes. And she peed!!! I mean, it was inevitable, but what a great way to start the day!

4 hours later, the kid still hasn't peed. After a snack and a lot of liquid, I tried again. Nothing. We have sat on the potty a million times in the last four hours.

And pee on the floor about 2 minutes after getting off the potty. Then again 20 minutes later.

So far, not making the association between feeling like you have to go, and sitting down.

A couple more accidents... caught one, and she finished in the potty.

Then poop on the potty!!!!! It was simply timing, and she was not too pleased about it when it happened. I just kept telling her it was ok, and that's what she's supposed to do, etc. Then TWO M&Ms and a big sticker, and she was so proud of herself.

And to end the day, a pee in the garage, after a dry quick car trip, then get ready for bed. While we were reading on her potty (not her "normal" one) she started crying and said "Mommy, big potty!!!" And I took her onto the big one with the ring on it, and she pooped!!!

My kid asked me to go poop!!!!!!!

  1. Woke up dry? I feel like that's pretty darn successful...big girl Olivia! How much extra laundry have you done this week? :)

  2. Katie sent me over: Best advice I can give you is make sure the kid is ready. Go cold turkey- no pull ups. Diapers are fine for bed or naps though. Also, try & pick a week where you can stay home. Accidents are gonna happen & they're easier if you're not out.
We also used those thick white training panties. They're not cute, but they do the job& hold leak less when there's an accident. The first few days, I took my kids to the potty every 15 or 30 minutes & had them sit. We would sing songs, read books, paint toenails. Anything to get her to sit longer than 5 sec.

    And be patient. It'll happen.
